Not really. No, I am not a derm, or any kind of professional, but I do know a thing or two about working out 3 times a week, sweating my ass off, and what makeup does to skin when sweating just from being in the heat outside alone.
Heat causes things to expand, so do your pores when you start to sweat. and that can be from just standing there, doing nothing. Now, add a bit of cardio.. The idea of wearing makeup doesn’t seem cute anymore, does it? Also give a bit of thought to all the layers of makeup you probably wear, no matter how minimal the amount may be.. Foundation, covers pores, fine lines, and uneven skin tones/pigmentation from many causes. concealer is another layer that does the exact same thing, but we all buy it. Some of the following don’t really apply to me, because I hate putting too many things on in the first place.. Then there’s Blush, highlighter, bronzer, mascara, eye liner, eyebrow products, lip stick/balm/gloss/oil, then powder/setting spray. I am honestly too tired to count all those layers, but its unfathomable to think how anyone can go to the gym and work out with all that shit on, and sweat with it too.. ew.
Its simple and common sense math; covered up pores, with many layers of makeup on them + sweat = breakouts. But there’s more to just the makeup and sweat (trying not to gag). If you’ve ever done burpies, its an exercise that I do and know by that name. It involves a jump and ending up with your hands touching the floor, in a half push up position. its a form of cardio, but it doesn’t matter what type of exercise you do, you will eventually sweat and wipe your sweat off with your hands. ew again. Now if you’re not exercising at home (supposing you clean your home), at the gym, you share every piece of equipment with the rest, and you also share the floor as well. By now, I am hoping you get the point. But just in case, I’ll give you another equation: sweaty makeup face + bacteria = planet on the face.
Though who is kidding who? when we are working hard to look and feel our best, we also want to at least look like we’ve had decent sleep and an even skin tone. So ruling out a brightening eye cream and a tinted moisturizer is a bit insane.. regardless, you who insist on wearing your fabulous looks to the gym, more lovely power to you!
