A tiny disclaimer before I go on with this sudden, kind of self —— post, I want to note that I am inn NO WAY judging anybody’s makeup look/style preference/opinions/most importantly- feelings towards this current trend. This post is only on the way I feel about this current makeup look trend. However, since this website is completely my property, I have complete freedom to express my point of view on it. Thanks and I hope you enjoy!
LOL so it seems that apparently the way I have done my everyday makeup for the past 7 years has suddenly been dubbed “The Boy Beat”..
Boy Beat is considered a new makeup trend where the face looks “effortless” and a “no makeup-makeup” but more like actually no makeup, yet there is still blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyebrows coloring, and a whole bunch of other extra steps, even though the look calls for a look of wearing almost to nothing…
With that said, its kind of redundant to point out that since this “look” is a very minimal take on wearing the lightest amount of makeup, for us acne scared people, we know that means that our beautiful imperfections -will- show through. So according to this look, that is the main goal. Still, I cant help but to keep getting reminded of the whole concept of the brand Glossier.. But suddenly, once again, when somebody famous (not talking about Kim) wears anything o their body, it suddenly becomes a thing over night. This look is not new. I can guarantee to you that as far as I can remember seeing a magazine, this look has always been around. The reason why this is a trend -and I think I have just seen it popping up in the last few weeks will forever be a mystery to me. I say that this look is what I have been /doing/wearing for so many years, but many other women have also been doing this so called “boy beat” for many decades.
As for this look being a trend now, it makes absolutely no sense to me. At the moment- as I am writing this I am watching a fuuuuu tuns of videos/insta pics/articles to try to understand as much as possible as t why this is soo appealing now. Keep in mind that disclaimer I wrote at the beginning for this next thing I’m going to say guys.. All that have taken away so far from this trend, to me its just another to get followers/likes/exposure. That being said, I do think its totally fine, but it just goes to show how uniform a popular trend makes everyone look! YES it bothers me seeing this look (having another label on top of the many it already has) get standardized, but it also goes to show how something that is not that special and still isn’t, is used to market a person, a product, and eventually a standard for “beauty”. Thus this whole thing makes me want to -once again go completely in the other direction and look different from all the rest who will give in to the pressure of doing their makeup this way. Two things are for sure, that I absolutely HATE following trends like these, and that one day (really soon) this will no longer be a trend and I can continue to look like myself again apart from the rest. Maybe I sound wayy over dramatic saying that I feel I have to look completely different, but I actually just mean that I will strive to keep this look I have done for so many damn years still look strikingly original! Thanks for reading, until next time. Rant over..
